Carla Fontanilla calls both Hawaii and Northern CA home. Growing up in the Islands, Dad, Roland, and maternal aunt and godmother, Katherine Sabog, provided Carla first musical influences. She started on ukulele at age four then graduated to guitar at twelve. Carla played traditional and modern Hawaiian songs with her Dad and Church and ethnic music with her Auntie.
A lifelong musical explorer, Carla enjoys putting her on spin on covers of American and Latin jazz, rock n’ roll, pop, R&B, Reggae, Jawaiian, Island, Alt-Country, and World/Ethnic music. Her original compositions, including those in DADGAD tuning, are also often performed with her jazz uke, guitar and bass band, SoLunAire, and traditional and contemporary Hawaiian/Island band, Ho’opili.
Her greatest love is sharing hearts, heads, and hands with fellow musical travelers to create refreshing, cool, innovative, groovy music. The sky’s the limit!
